Excellent chapter, and a fine wrap-up to the complexities of this story. You had me sniffling a couple of times.

“I always break their hearts, Mikaëla.”

“I know. But you've got to promise yourself that this time, you won't. Give yourself hope.”

I love this exchange. The way Mikaela makes the Doctor understand that the promises and for them, it's for her. And the Doctor takes it to heart. Lovely.

That was the point of the story, in fact. I realized that "Mad Girl's Love Song" had the same gap between the uneasy distrust at the end of "The Doctor Dances" and the easy, flirty camarederie of part X when they start a relationship. The end of this fic is the turning point that makes the OT3 possible.

The Spring Tide Sabbath scene was wonderful! So much going on beneath the surface.
