Went to see Harry Potter last night. Very good movie, although it felt a little rushed in parts and purists with undoubtedly complain that it deviated from the books more than the previous movies. The dragon was very cool though. :-)

Gearing up for the loscon art show. Last week I went to Aaron brothers to get a batch of 4 of my drawings matted. ( Read more... )

I think that the dragon scenes were cool. And knowing how long the book was, I figured that it had to deveate substantivly in order to squeeze into a 2 hour movie. Yet, what really dissapointed me was that the director lacked a story, a soal, even a plot. The book is all about these significant emotional relationships, yet that was almost abscent from this one. After we saw the movie, we were sitting at the nearby burger joint, and a dad with his 2 kids was there- like age 4 and 7, I would guess. He asked them what they liked the best, and the old one crocked his head, then said "I'm just glad it's over". Not to sound like the awfull racist that I am, but it makes sence-- this is the first Potter movie to use an English director, it figures there would be a total set-aside of the emotional significance of relationships.
