I found this grammar guide on line and it's not too pretentious. I always worry about that when I look at grammar sites.
There is even an entry on Ain't and thank goodness it doesn't say that we shouldn't use it - only that it is a word and we should think of our audiences before using said word. Ain't is actually a contraction of "Are Not".

If you want the definitive guide for grammar, get a copy of "Chicago Manual of Style". For more basic reference, Strunk and White's "Elements of Style".

Well, the biggest help with grammar is writing and having it beta'd. If you're making the same mistakes continually, having them pointed out and making the corrections eventually forces a new habit. But having either book for reference is good when you're not sure how something should be done.
