I found this grammar guide on line and it's not too pretentious. I always worry about that when I look at grammar sites.
There is even an entry on Ain't and thank goodness it doesn't say that we shouldn't use it - only that it is a word and we should think of our audiences before using said word. Ain't is actually a contraction of "Are Not".

Why is it that you people have to be english nazis? is it too much to ask that someone enquire if my keyboard is on the fritz? because I have noticed that sometimes a key does not get into a word and then I have to go and edit because "miling" makes no sence when I actually wrote "milking".
