Sing your song about all the sad imitations that got it so wrong

I was in a RAGE earlier today about not being able to find Jarvis Cocker's new album Further Complications for sale anywhere. Though the album leaked online a few weeks ago I decided to wait for the actual CD release, but I went to three different stores (Borders, Best Buy, and Record Exchange) and none of them had it. Best Buy carries Jarvis's ( Read more... )

That's really kinda horrifying that you had to spell the name out for them. You'd think people working in a music store would at least be familiar with him, even if they didn't know about a release.

Well, it was at Best Buy, which I figure is like going into Blockbuster and asking someone if they've ever heard of Trainspotting or Harold and Maude. See, if only I was looking for the new Guns 'N' Roses album, it would have been so much easier. But as it was the guy really had no idea what I was talking about. I felt like I was speaking in French.

lol it's not rly related but i love this video and wanted an excuse to post it!

man there are like 3492903294 record stores in clevo, you just aren't looking in the right place. just google "cleveland record store", pick one that is near your house, and go there to see if they've got jarvis' album, which they probs do!

I totes know where that is b/c I went to the Beachland Ballroom to see TMBG! But the thing about independent record stores is, I'm sure there are loads in Cleveland, but I never actually shop in Cleveland. The only time I'm ever down there is for concerts.

OMG TOM HANKS LIKES MORRISSEY?!! epic win.

also. i really feel your pain when it comes to tracking good british music down here in actual record form. this is why reading the mere words 'best buy' made me chuckle -(they'd never ever have it and i'm not at all surprised they didn't know who he was. i bet they don't know moz either.)

you have to find independents, i'm afraid. SINCE TOWER RECORDS CLOSED DOWN- WOE WOE WOE. :(

it sucks man. i had the hardest time trying to find things like suede albums or the divine comedy, or...anything british really. in the end i made a big list and bought a bunch when i visited england :/

BUT BEST BUY CARRIES THE JARVIS ALBUM WHILE BORDERS AND RECORD EXCHANGE DON'T! WHICH IS WHY IT BOGGLES MY MIND THAT THEY WON'T GET IN HIS NEW ALBUM AT ALL!
