- starts with the case in progress. Guy recognized suspect from police sketch. - Cedric Stuber. Well. That’s a name all right. His mom interferes with his arrest, she gets taken out by random uni/SWAT guy (couldn’t tell which he was, but he had a hat on). - Stuber is “the gay basher” - lots of media, etc. outside when he’s arrested. - Stuber’s accused of killing a gay man whose partner witnessed/ID’ed him.
Lupo: Straight guys never have a problem with two girls together. It’s kinda hot. But two guys - it’s the ass thing, right?

McCoy: I don’t give a damn about anything except putting the right people in jail.
McCoy: Forget that Emily Ryan was your mentor, Mike. She’s just another defense lawyer. Cutter: A defense lawyer that won a motion for a new trial for a murderer. McCoy: That, too.
- Lupes & B question Sorrentino. - Lupo pretends to score drugs from Diaz. Bahahaha. “Let’s take a walk,” says Bernard. - Diaz says it’s the truth. - He was with Lisa from the Innocence Coalition at a bar - “is that how they got you to testify?” - He got into an argument w/ Lisa at the bar, she gave him money.
Cutter: Prof. Ryan’s student greased the wheels of justice with drug money. Rubirosa: Are you saying she bought his testimony for $100? Cutter: And a pitcher of margaritas.
- They go to interview Lisa. “Prof. Ryan always said you were quick, Mr. Cutter.” Lisa: You’re grasping at straws instead of admitting you were wrong. Cutter: I think the grasping has just begun

Drunk!lawyers FTW. Ahahahahahahha…..GUYS, WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
Cutter: We need to make a deal to cover my ass. I’d rather be disbarred…
Cri moar, Mike. CRI MOAR.
Also, Waterston said “debacle” wrong.
Face offffff at Rikers. Dude. What the freakin’ flippity fuhhhh?
- Connie steps in to do some bitchslappin’. That’s right. Go Connie. “You can have my license! I’ll be freed up to testify against your client’s hate speech. And then I’ll…”
HOLY SHIT, MIKE CUTTER.
I don’t even…
That scene kind of rocked, despite my general WTFing for this portion of the episode.
“That guy’s crazy.” “Yeah, I know.” Oh, STFU, Emily Ryan. I hate you. Connie hates you. Go away now.
Cutter: I’ve been reprimanded by the Bar overseers. It goes in the Law Journal tomorrow. McCoy: [reads from it] But we cannot see how the flaw in Mr. Cutter’s credentials prejudices any of his past convictions.
Mike: I dodged a bullet. Jack: Did you?
So. In conclusion, I still don’t know WTF to make of some of the elements of this episode. I guess

Well, I think the writers did a rather well set up to show that the defendant was as pure as the driven slush. Same for his mom.
I have to agree with Connie’s BS alarm when his mentor said “nothing personal” to Cutter. Yeah, if it hadn’t been, then why would it be necessary to walk over and tell him that. It really makes me kind of wonder what sort of bug up her butt she had to decide to go after him. I find it REALLY hard to believe that she didn’t notice her client was less than angelic. (Granted, non angelic does not equate guilt, but it does make things smell fishy.)
Cutter: I would’ve walked into bullets for her. McCoy: And this is how you repay her, Mike?Ok, so, she was a second mother to him, he saw as family at one point. IMO, yeah, one would walk into bullets for a family member - provided that they aren’t the ones actually shooting the bullets AT YOU… Ryan is doing her best to pick Mike off here

The look Mike gave Connie made me think, “This is who is part of Mike’s family now.” (Of course, I take full credit for me just being shippy with these two in this scene.)
OMG. ILU. THIS INTERPRETATION FTW.
Ok, I have to say the first time I heard this, I interpreted it as Jack hinting that Mike wasn’t off the hook, that he might still fire Mike. I said, “If they get rid of Cutter, I am so done watching this show.” Looking at it again this morning, however, I’m thinking Jack was merely trying to tell him that even though the Bar overseers let him off the hook, someone might still attempt to go after getting his previous cases overturned with this knowledge. Still not good, but Cutter is still there. My thoughts exactly. I was like "er.....okayyyy?" but maybe it was just the writers' way of like...making it so that everything ISN'T wrapped up neatly at the end (even though it really is) or something? I liked this episode, it was very intense. There were times I wanted to slap Emily Ryan so badly!
Loved how angry Mike got at the end! Just seeing the "What have I done?" look on Emily's face was priceless.
About what Jack said to Mike at the end, I don't think that meant that he's gonna fire him, I think it meant that Mike should be more careful next time, cause you never know when something else from the past can come back and bite you in the ass. And that is something that Jack knows all too well.
A little late, but wow. This episode ranks right up there with For the Defense for me this season.
It was pretty damn good the whole way through, but the last half kicked so much ass I was literally sitting there staring transfixed at the TV. Loved Connie trying to console drunk Mike at the bar, loved Jack going to bat for him but letting him know quietly that this is very, very serious, loved Mike's passion for his job and principles, loved that it was Mike's "affection" for Connie that totally pushed him over the edge to rake the defendant over the coals when he insulted her, law license be damned. He was already close as it was, and that fail loser defendant pushed just the right button.
Great Episode! Loved drunk Mike! He was even more cute than usual! Totaly great at the end when Mike freaked out... and even better cause it was because of what the guy said to Connie... though if i were her i would have just taken over and slapped the guy right there

I NOTICED THIS, TOO. Kind of went, "Huh? Did Sam just say that wrong?"
Also, the bar scene was superfluous but awesome.
Drunk!Cutter was kind of cute, IMO.
