Been a fairly quiet few days here, as I've been working on my research paper (computer creativity). But that's finished now, so I can move on to the other stacks of reading I've got piled up here
( Read more... )
For some reason the guys in the shop down the road became convinced the other day that I was dutch? I've told them that I'm not, but they now think that I'm polish (mainly due to the fact that I buy all their random polish sausages they have).
As far as I know, I sound as if I'm from London (even though I'm not originally), so I have no clue...
And as a heads up - you don't really sound polish :)
With a little help from your friends ?rileenMay 1 2003, 08:22:43 UTC
Hi, what would you characterise your accent as? And what was your earlier 'posh' one like?
As for the 'Asperger' stuff, i'm a little skeptical of all kinds of bunch of 'symptoms', clubbed together & bandied about as various 'disorders'. I'm sure the counsellors love them :-)
More seriously, i don't think you lack self-esteem, though you might lack confidence in inter-personal stuff(not my view, just s'thing you mention often in these pages) & so on. But i think you've been taking the right steps, eg dance lessons.
So i think that since you've already overcome the significant barrier of admitting that you're less than perfect, & are obvioulsy intelligent enough to formulate effective courses of action, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to deal with it on your own - though talking to (the somewhat supportive among) those close to you should definitely help considerably.
And as a bit of a geek, i can't help thinking there might be some useful stuff on the internet :-) !!
