creepy man at the door

Jul 12, 2010 17:14

I was minding my own business blissfully listening to some classical music, and suddenly a loud knock on the door! I went and looked through the peephole and saw a man standing there. I said aloud, "Who is this?" He ignored me. I put my mouth very near the doorjamb and said very loud, "Who are you? What do you want?" He just stood there silently. I ( Read more... )

I did wonder if it's possible that he couldn't speak for some reason such as an illness affecting his voice. However, the other behavior does seem quite odd for a courier. Amazon usually ships via one of the major couriers and they all wear uniforms and certainly don't stand around after dropping off a package. It could also be that the courier left the package without knocking (UPS is known to do that) and then this guy was some stranger who came by and saw the package then started banging on your door. It's odd behavior but there a lot of odd people in the world.

No, recently Amazon switched to LaserShip, because it's cheaper, and if you look around you'll find that hordes of unhappy customers have been complaining that LaserShip really sucks. I posted this complaint in one such forum on the Amazon site. I e-mailed the same text to LaserShip.

It's legit enough, but the last time Amazon used LaserShip to send something, they ended up having to send a replacement because LaserShip never delivered it. (Well, they did two weeks later.) Even the customer service rep at Amazon couldn't get anyone from LaserShip to answer her phone call about where my package was. Don't know why they're still using them. They're obviously unreliable and now unprofessional.

I work door-to-door. Every day I knock on nearly a hundred doors of complete strangers. I speak as an expert when I say

OMG WTF WHO DOES THAT. Approaching someone else's house that way is seriously a very very good way to get maced.
