This is delightful, and I completely believe that Wilson will bring food to House if he can.

I think House equates food with affection, which is why he takes so much of it from Wilson -- so his asking, here, is really touching.

Well, I didn't show House when Wilson cooked the pie, so I guess House asking for Wilson's food was just a natural progression? House expresses a lot of his affection (and love, and anger, and lust) in code, I think.

Yes, this felt very much like a natural progression. And I think Wilson equates food with love, too, which is why he and House have this unspoken understanding about it; it's one of the few forms of affection House will happily accept. Or accept at all.

Yes. We have more canon evidence of House sharing food with people than we have for Wilson being a gourmet, too...

Wait, there was that chicken mole thing, so I think Wilson's foodiness is fairly well established, too.

I think House likes eating other people's food (and eating food other people have made) more than he likes cooking it himself.

Thank you. It made sense to bring it back around to Mayfield, since Wilson had already cooked for House at other needy times. I thought "Hey, might as well make it as schmoopy as possible!". :D

I'm partly commenting just to use this icon, and I'm mostly commenting to say that there's a deep richness to this - the connection to the emotions is immediate and vivid, with the sensory details and quick images keeping the reader's attention where it counts.

The food was just a great big excuse to write about smells and tastes, so that was fun. I could have gone more overboard with the sensory detail, but I dialed it back because I didn't want it to seem like I was writing a catalogue or a wine review or something, you know?
