Do you have dress slacks, a button shirt and a jacket to remove if too formal? I realize that I am probably one of the last people on the planet who should give advice on office dress, but that's what I would wear the first day. A skirt is too dressy and pegs you as the new person, and a sweater or shirt without buttons might be too casual. Then, you can see what everyone else is wearing and reevaluate if sweaters, shirts are appropriate.

I have pants/jacket/light sweater for now, although I need to decide if I want to insist they find the petite pants, which the website claims exist (Lane Bryant). OTOH, my brown shoes have a decent heel on them, so I might be fine. Alternately, I just randomly discovered a black skirt in my closet that I didn't know I had?!? Odd. I'm not a fan of button down blouses because I tend to get "gap-osis". :)
