Family fun?

has anyone heard of a board game called The Settlers of Catan? I got it for Daisy for her birthday, which was yesterday. I was looking for Carcasonne, which we really like, but they didn't have it. This has elements in common with Carcasonne, as you are building roads and settlements and trying to develop the region while stopping your opponents ( Read more... )

Hey! Americans are good at board games! Who do you think invented Mysteray Date? Huh? Huh?

I've never heard of the one you mention but it sounds similar to a computer game Andy really enjoys -- you build an entire civilization.

Happy belated birthday to Daisy! I'm sorry I didn't realize it was yesterday. I'm in the midst of burning her a late birthday/early Christmas present -- I'm thinking she needs the two "best of" compilations (1980-1990 and 1990-2000) and the last two albums, which were not included on the best of collections. The new album, "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" is really terrific and I recommend it to you as well. Bono addressed his father's death in several of the songs and they're not doom-and-gloom, just very very beautiful.

*hugs*

haron, it was the extension sets in the shop that got me all excited, actually! YEARS of fun!

Joal, do you remember that comedian in the 80s whose whole routine was based around Mystery Date? "Will he be a dream (oooooh!) or a dud (uuuuugh!)?"

I've heard that the latest album is good - I may have to finally overcome my aversion to the post-Joshua Tree period...

No, I don't remember that -- I'm sorry I missed whoever that comedian is though. I loved Mystery Date when I was a kid.

You will hear the new album for yourself in a few weeks. I'm going to try to get the discs burned and in the mail on Saturday. Is there anything you want while I'm at it?

As I just got back, I've completely sated myself on American junk food, thanks. Which is the only thing I ever ask for! Daisy is still eating Halloween candy (and may be for several years, considering how much she got - and she gave half of it away before we even came home!

Having said that, I must bow down to the gods and pay all homage for the divine inspiration that is the peanut butter Oreo. I was humbled in the face of such genius.

Peanut butter Oreos! *boggles* Sounds like I need to take a trip down the Cookie aisle myself. Have you tried the vanilla Oreos? Don't scoff -- they are very good -- better than Vienna Fingers or Cameos.

Is there any music I can send you then?
