Family fun?

has anyone heard of a board game called The Settlers of Catan? I got it for Daisy for her birthday, which was yesterday. I was looking for Carcasonne, which we really like, but they didn't have it. This has elements in common with Carcasonne, as you are building roads and settlements and trying to develop the region while stopping your opponents from doing the same, but is more sophisticated because there are resources and trading and armies and stuff. It took a while to learn it as it's somewhat complicated (the lower age limit is 12!), but it's really good. I ask because it's apparently award-winning in Germany and the USA, but I'd never heard of it. It's of German origin, which is unsurprising, as the Germans make the beast board games.

As I won the first game, I'm liking it a lot!
