This is WONDERFUL Jo! I like the color combination in the kitchen/dining area. I've never used that leaf carpeting before, but I love it in that room. It's so warm and cozy. The master bedroom is BOLD! and the child's room is adorable. You always do a good job with those ;) This one is going to be a difficult one, but I am looking forward to doing a bit of remodeling.
Thanks Holley, that took me quite awhile to finish.
I don't normally use that leaf carpet either and I wasn't overly happy with that room until I added the curtains and the light. I think the ceiling light throws an orangey glow to the room.
Isn't it just. :D Again not a colour combination I would do very often. I found that rug (which I had to go through hoops through to get as it ended up being on a yahoo group and Yahoo is being a pain.) and had to use it.
Oh man, that living room brings back memories... It's a very good retro feel, and a great house! By the way, I love the kids' room and the porch too - so many plants! So perfect for a small boy or girl!
You know I hadn't even thought about it being retro, but your right it is. I kind of draw on my childhood for that, we had a lot of orange stuff around then! ^_^
Hope I didn't overdo the plants? I like plants. Especially plastic ones lol. I found this Asian site last night and they had plastic hedge! Oh my gosh, I think hedges will be making a come back in my grander sim homes now!
Jo, your decorating and remodeling skills always impress me, and I like the CC you choose. :) The picture on the wall of the kids room, the one with all the animals, that's a popular poster and t-shirt over here, or at least it was 10-15 years ago. I recognized it right away. I especially love the downstairs bathroom and the landscaping! I am very jealous of your landscaping abilities.
Speaking of plants... Scribbles, if you have trouble keeping plants alive, try either pathos or snake plants -- both are almost impossible to kill. (Cactuses and aloe are pretty tough too.)
Thanks Esme, I was really pleased with this one. I wasn't too sure at the start when I was fiddling with stair cases just how the floor plan would turn out.
Poster- I thought I'd seen it someplace before, but I never know what things are popular/not popular, I just go with what I like. They are a set of wildlife type pictures and the only ones that I could find that I thought were suitable for a child aged sim.
I could have done more landscaping, but I didn't feel like it so glad it looks enough. Those curved maxis Match garden edges are one of my most used landscaping objects. Always makes a place feel more welcoming then just the straight edge pieces.
P.S I took a look at your latest update. If you have a glitched sim like that, delete them, save, exit to neighbourhood view and load the lot again. They should be fixed by the mail box.
I love those curved garden edgers. I like straight edges for some things (like vegetables), but I do like the curves for flowers.
Thank you for the tip! That was the last straw where I downloaded the MATY hacks (which are probably a good thing as now many game-destroying issues are fixed) but it's good to know that technique is safe. I wasn't sure it was the right method to use, and I didn't want to lose poor Frederic.
I plan on using this house for an asylum challenge at some point, but given your comments, I think I'll leave it unmodified. Traffic jams are funnier than functional layouts in an asylum. :)
Sometimes a sim will just glitch up like that, usually a baby on age transition. I've also had to do that for sims I've had frozen on the freezer clock now and then. (The clock freezes them so they don't move while you pose other sims for a staged picture) Perfectly safe as it isn't like deleting sims from the bin, it just deletes their pixels not their files. I guess when you go back in it puts their pixel body back together. Not sure, but I know it is safe and it usually works
( ... )
And why are you not an Interior Designer outside Sims Jo? You seem to have the eye for it. I'd pay you to do my place. However much it would be in Australian dollars...I've changed and gutted that house before, the layout annoys me. so I had to change it. I had to level off the ground to make it more pleasing to my OCD about things being even and organized.

I can't wait to see what you come up with.

I levelled a lot of the ground too, as if I remember correctly just about every bush was a stomping area for the gardener.
