"I grew up with a number of flying monkeys," he told her with a small smile, which was the answer he was sticking to.
His time at the Girardi's hadn't been particularly unpleasant. They required little of him, when it came right down to it, and the normality of the whole thing was almost refreshing. He'd known enough students at Fandom who were from worlds like this that he was able to pretend well enough. It was a slightly uncomfortable mask, one that chafed at the edges, but he thought it had gone relatively well.
Liir took the box and pulled it open thoughtfully, fingertips brushing the bracelet thoughtfully before he spoke. He could feel something from it, something... settling. Balancing. He'd never seen someone give something with so many colors on it to a boy before, but he liked the feel of it so much, he slipped it on and closed the box. The card could be read later.
He breathed out.
"Huh."
He'd have to take a look and figure out which stones were in this, considering. He was reasonably sure he knew, what with all the research he'd done a couple of years ago, but he wanted to check.
Liir had not gotten her jewelry; rather, he'd gotten her a jewelry box. He hadn't really been sure what she'd like, so he'd figured that something wouldn't be taken out in public was the safest bet.
