Books I'm reading for 2008

Jan 09, 2008 18:45

I'd like to aim for 50 books this year. With grad school being as time consuming as it is, I don't think I'll be able to reach 70 this year.

1. Pride & Prejudice-Jane Austen
2. The Sweet Far Thing- Libba Bray
3. Promises to Keep- Charles de Lint
4. Look me in the Eye: My Life with Aspergers- John Elder Robison
5. Paint it Black-Janet Fitch
6. Ruby- ( Read more... )

I like that goal, I'd love to hit 50 myself.

It's less than a book a week, so I think it's a perfectly reasonable goal.

I did right around 50 this year. Huzzah for all your reading!

Since you've continued and read the 3rd one, I assume you like Libba Bray's series? I need to read some more teen fiction - there are a lot of good looking ones mixed in with all the crap.

I loved Libba Bray's series. I picked up A Great & Terrible Beauty a few years ago just because I thought the cover was so pretty (hahaha, bad I know!), and fell in love with the book. It's a terrific series, you should definitely check it out.

It's interesting how much my reading has slowed as I've gotten older and my life has changed. I was never a 70 book a year reader, but I'd say I read around 30 books a year in college, and 12 a year in graduate school. However, after having had two kids, I think I've read two books in the past 4 years, started a third, and am somewhere well over 1,000 children's books. Which is actually only about 20 books repeated ad naseum.

Not sure if I should count that or not. ;)

Hahaha, it does get harder as you get more responsibilities. As I've said to others, I cannot fall asleep without reading. I go through bouts of insomnia pretty regularly, and the reading at least gets me to focus on something other than the thought, "Oh my god, I have to go to sleep tonight. Why can't I sleep?"

Hello! Sorry for off-topic. If you check my journal perhaps you will like it and add me to f-list. It is multi-topical and Russia-related.
