I apologize humbly for not commenting properly, but I've been reading faithfully and enjoying the story thoroughly.

one of Lucy’s books-a large, colourful one on Greek Mythology,

I have to ask...is that D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths? I lost count of how many times I checked that book out of the school library as a kid...

Good gracious--don't apologise! Your life sounds like it's been *incredibly* busy!

It absolutely is. I *adored* that book when I was a kid, and read it constantly. I keep looking for a copy of it whenever I'm at McKay's; it's just such a wonderful thing to have, and to leaf through every now and again.

I don't know how terrified I would be in a gale. But I do know that having Peter Carlisle would no doubt help a great deal.

I was surprised by how on-edge I was as we rode out the gale in Portree last year. Which, of course, is what inspired Peter and Rose having to ride out a gale of their own. :)

So even though Rose was missing for two weeks and Jackie had planned a memorial service for her, it hadn't gotten into the press that Rose was gone? I find it interesting that the family was able to keep it so quiet. Obviously, Peter was too distressed to really care about anything but Rose coming back, but someone had the proper focus.

Yay, Louise! I can just see her holding court in the coffee shop with all her friends and former customers. And, of course, who but one of his surrogate mother's would be immune to his attempts at charm?

Penington, who Rose suspected had been alerted to their presence through some sort of bat-signal, arrived a half-hour laterHA! And Pennington, too! Five kids? I always thought Penny was a bit rabbity, but that's crazy. ;^) But how lovely is it to see Peter surrounded by a loving family after all these years, particularly after what he and Rose have just gone through ( ... )

The media are used to Rose vanishing for a few weeks at a time-she’s been doing it for years, and it’s always been couched as “Official Vitex Business” (amazingly, the press have bought that line). But it does surprise me that no-one quite got wind of the memorial Jackie had been planning-which is a testament to how tightly-knit the inner-circle of the Tyler clan is.

Yay, Louise! I can just see her holding court in the coffee shop with all her friends and former customers.

Louise will be like that until the day she passes away. Bless her.

He and Anna have *got* to stop drinking the water ;)

But how lovely is it to see Peter surrounded by a loving family after all these years, particularly after what he and Rose have just gone through. And he still doesn’t *quite* realize just how much of a loving family he ( ... )

There's nothing quite like being tucked up in your house while the world is going to hell outside.

Isn't that so true? Especially if you know your house can stand just about anything.

What lovely read! I enjoyed knowing Elias and the Met had something to do with the fall of Williams. But I think it's good Peter doesn't seem to know.

The scene of the drive to school was perfect. I can hear Lucy asking all kinds of questions and Peter and she getting caught up in the stories. All of Rose's little moments of 'noticing her life' really point to a lot of introspection right now. Transitions can be hard but I love that she's seeing just how full her life is. I'm still a bit worried about Peter though. I wonder if he'll be as 'okay' if she spends a day or so away again.

Elias--and Cunningham--are genial enough, but you do not want to cross them, especially when it comes to the job.

The scene of the drive to school was perfect.

Thank you! I think Rose really does love just *listening* to her daughter and husband interplay; it's relaxing, in a way very few other things can be.
