some thoughts about television

Sep 06, 2011 14:36

So I was gone this weekend, and I'm catching up on LJ but if there's anything I need to see please let me know. I don't generally say "hey I'll be gone" because it's pretty rare on any given five-day period that anyone is looking for me that urgently, but I did find myself to be too tired and overstimulated to be good about keeping up and ( Read more... )

Me too. It's getting a lot of "mad men clone" press but with that EW piece I feel like it'll be pretty different. I mean, it had me (at least for checking-out purposes) at Christina Ricci but I think it has the possibility to be really interesting.

Wow, I didn't know any of that about Pan Am. Much more interested now.

Also, I was completely fascinated by RHBH last night, I admit. Though your reaction is refreshingly different from most people's on TWOP.

Hope you had a fun weekend!

What were they saying on TWOP? On Gawker they were sort of weirded out, too, at least the recapper was.

I did, thanks! I'll post on that eventually, ha.

Shows I might not watch when they return: American Idol

Even though I don't watch Idol anymore, this still makes me sad to read. It really is the end of an era. :/

The last two seasons were just so uninteresting. When there's no Rymon I have to actually pay attention to the music, which is often not good, or to the judges, who are horrible.

And then I look at The Sing-Off and The Voice (forgot to put that on the list!) and I think, it does not have to be like this. Maybe X-Factor will also be good, and maybe those other shows by putting themselves very specifically outside the mainstream have already ruined me for X-Factor as well, because at the end of the day Simon has incredibly mainstream tastes. I can't tell, but I'm willing to give it a chance.
