this week in tv

Mar 03, 2011 20:14

No Glee til next week, no Community til 3/17, no more 5-0, Castle or HIMYM til 3/21, and only one more week of White Collar. Justified and Top Chef, you're gonna have to do some heavy lifting around here, because my vague disinterest in both a Simon-free Idol and a Derek-and-Maks-free DwtS may make for an antsy spring.

I just watched Justified just now and omg, that conversation at the end was so hilarious. "I was never under any illusion that my family was the Cosbys." "Your family isn't funny."

I also liked the scene b/w the kid and his father. Parents buying kids they don't know age-inappropriate presents always gets me and I liked how the kid reacted to it.

I found the Neal/Sara scene in the archives unexpectedly hot. I was reading people saying how he has "no chemistry" with any of these females because he just has gay chemistry and yeah, I'm not seeing that. I bought the chemistry there!

Neal does have actual sexual chemistry with Peter-it's not just cutesy bromance, omg they love each other; there are moments when you wouldn't be entirely surprised if Peter ordered Neal to his knees and Neal went happily. But god, fans are so literal; of course Bomer is capable of more than gay chemistry, or he wouldn't have it with Tiffani! Or June ( ... )

the jury is still out for me on Sara. I am liking her more now. I was the same way with Alex but I think it may be a matter of me pretty much being over the whole 'they don't get along, they're totally mtb' romantic trope. They've kind of dialed that back both with Neal and Alex and Neal and Sara. As I get older I find I'm much more interested in the ones that do get along, that respect and kind of adore each other, like Peter and El.

I personally think Neal has chemistry with pretty much everyone. I mean I love him and Diana together and that is (please God) never, ever gonna be more than friendly flirting.

Did Alex and Neal ever really not like each other? I thought that was more that Alex had a healthy distrust for Neal given that he's a con man and she works with him. As for Sara, she hadn't met him before that episode, I think, so she was more reacting to the Neal Caffrey of reputation, and someone who stole a painting she'd insured, rather than him. She seemed to thaw to him a lot by the end of that episode.

Neal really does have chemistry with everyone and is supernaturally charming, so I think it sticks out a lot when he can't charm someone immediately. But you know, until very recently Neal really wasn't very trustworthy; the only one who trusted him was Mozzie and that was mostly because he didn't need Neal for anything ( ... )

Alex and Neal had a sort of flirty antagonistic thing going, topped with mutual mistrust and betrayal.

I'm not saying Sara didn't have legit reasons to be wary of Neal, just that it seemed clear from the beginning that she was also a potential love interest and that was sort of also an underlying sign of the attraction.

I mean one of the things I love about White Collar in general is that they don't spend a lot of time on the 'you can't trust Neal' thing. Didn't develop the relationship with him and Peter or him and the rest of the team that way, so when it does come up it's more relevant.

I'm always iffy about new characters brought in, especially in an ensemble show and I'm never fond of the character brought in to be the 'conflict' so I am glad she's become more of a peripheral member of the team instead. It will be interesting to see what the do with her.

Especially in light of the whole is 'Kate dead or isn't she' thing.
