I freaking LOVE mussels - they're cheap as chips and are best prepared with such simple, inexpensive ingredients! Sadly neither Chris nor my parents/sister will eat them, so I don't make them all that often just for myself. I did have some delicious ones last weekend when out for a pub lunch with folk, though...and when we went to Spain last summer, malachan, folk and I bought kilos of them at a time and stuffed ourselves silly! :D

Also, re: this year's WS? Won't be watching! F'ing Yankees. :P

I just ate the rest of the pasta-mussels are also amazingly filling! They must be like, super proteins or something.

DUDE. So like, I rarely bought them because we never ate them growing up-in Maine mussels are a cash crop, and we eat clams. But they were on sale, and they went such a long way! If your fish shop cleans them for you (because dude those beards are a bitch to get off), I say buy them! SO EASY AND FAST.

Every place I've bought mussels in NYC have been debearded... Actually, they are a regular in Phil and my very long food rotation!
