things other than writing
I did the ST Reboot Meme on DeviantArt. I'm no artist; I mostly did it as art therapy when I was feeling writer's block. Definitely was cheering, so if there are other memes on DA I could do link away!
Bravo just picked up Top Chef Desserts. I'm sure it will be shorter than Top Chef, but it will be really interesting to see what kind of challenges they have and who they bring in to be the judges. Varitety thinks this is a crowded category what with all those stunt cake shows, but I'm sure that Top Chef Desserts will not be about making cakes in the shape of Tinkerbelll-which one person can't make on their own anyway. It'll be as much about different flavors and new techniques as Top Chef is. Baking is more mysterious to me than cooking, so I'm looking forward to it!
Last night I made mussels for dinner, as they were on sale from Fresh Direct. I had to buy 2lb, which is a lot for one person. Shellfish is so magical-you think, 1/2c wine is not enough to steam all these mussels but then they exude their own liquor and there's plenty! I ate my fill last night with a baguette from the French bakery around the corner, and today I reduced the juices and I'll get two nice plates of pasta out of it. I have to say, that ended up being more economical than I thought-three meals for $4 of mussels.
ETA: I wanted a freeway series, not a Jersey Turnpike series. I'd root for the Phillies but they won last year so my caring, it is nonexistent. Just as well I didn't pay much mind to this season, I reckon. How many days til pitchers and catchers?
