One of the weirdest feelings with Avatar was trust that the creators were paying attention to their story and going somewhere. Maybe part of that was listening to the commentaries but they were just so aware of where everything was going. I loved times where, like, they were talking about Zuko's confrontation with his father and said that they were explaining the first season to their team and then they wanted to hear more, so they told them the rest and everybody got excited right then. This one guy was like, "I want to animate that scene [with Zuko and his father]!" And he did. But it was just that everything in the show was so earned, every moment, and that's why it worked

Except if you don't have any stability then you don't care when it's rocked.
That's where I am, anyway. I think there are tons of people who really love stuff about TV that I don't and awesome for them! I'm just glad I like reality, so I'm not some snob who never watches television. The idea of that was really beginning to freak me out.
Avatar and HIMYM, totally making me feel better about my ability to comprehend a narrative.

Please tell me you were watching The Colbert Report where SC was comparing FDR to Teddy Roosevelt to see who was better? (Since one's Obama's favorite and one McCain's.)
Stephen's favorite Roosevelt was Roosevelt Franklin!!!

It was last night--they even show a little clip of RF in action. Stephen felt he was the best rep for the red states and the blue states since he is purple. It made me so happy to see him doing his little muppet dance (where they sort of jump side to side with their head up).

Then roommate has it on the TIVO, as I don't think she's watched it yet, and if not, I'll catch the rebroadcast or summat. God, my FAVORITE!! Colbert is so awesome.
I've enjoyed reading these entries. I think it's hard to have a flist that's all one one mind on fandoms they like, and I'm sure I'd get bored without the influx of new stuff, even when it's new stuff I'm not into. I like seeing people squee about their own thing, whatever it is. I don't think I would've started watching AI had I not had you and a few others around posting about it; on the other hand, I will never get the Supernatural thing, but I'm glad it makes people happy.
So yay for liking things!
(Someday, I will borrow my coworker's HIMYM DVDs, because that's another one that I'm pretty sure I could get into given the entry point.)
