Travelling from mere weeks into the future, an injured Per Degaton has bade the Injustice Society to interfere

The Canary stands tall, ignoring her injuries, barely daring to breathe, hoping the speedsters will be able to succeed in capturing Wotan's amulet.

Dr. Mid-Nite whirls a crescent-shaped boomerang to smack the head of one of Wotan's preists who would dare approach the Black Canary, and the return path whiffs past her face skillfully as the villain drops to the ground.

The priests are scattered and confused, but their sheer numbers turn them into a wave, threatening to engulf the heroes. Still, some are obviously panicking, darting deep into the darkness away from the conflict.

Let them dart - they can be rounded up later if they run.

Dr. Mid-Nite makes a daring leap to the railing of the stairwell, before bounding back with kicks to every shoulder he can, leaping off of each solar plexus to keep above the crush of priests.

The distraction worked! Wotan's turned to face Johnny Quick, and holy socks, that blast is close! His grip on Wotan's cloak is loosened, as he has to devote every ounce of his muted speed to dodging whatever mystical malarkey that's just been thrown at him!

"Ignorant pest! You've been a thorn in my side for years!"

Wotan tries to backhand Johnny with his left hand, while with his right, he grabs for a weapon. Shining Knight's sword.

"Now it is time to end your infernal interference."

[jla_extras]

The backhand does catch him, but it doesn't quite drop him. With some fancy footwork, he manages to stay on his feet, but he's unsteady.

"Hey, Wotan, if you'd rather, I'd be happy to be a thorn in your hind quarters instead!"

One hand is engaged in combat with Johnny. One hand is reaching for a weapon.

The Flash's speed is needed.

He moves as quickly as he can -- even with his powers muted, he hopes he can be faster than the eye can follow.

His hand jabs out for the amulet.

The battle raging all around them, two titans crash into one another with unfathomable force.

"Why don't you fall you robtoic thing?!?!"

"ZZZZZttttttXXxxXXX and ZZZtoneZZZZZ," says a defiant, if now nearly unintelligible synthetic voice as metal fists slam into the Prussian Powerhouse.

The power surges through Captian Nazi's body, and in a surge of power, he knocks the metallic champion across the room, smashing him into the dungeon walls.

"You Americans will pay for what you've wrought here."

"Will you take an IOU?"

[jla_villains]

Wotan's not stupid. He knows the jig is up.

His minions turned on him. Captain Nazi free. Dr. Fate's power returned to him.

"Damn you," he says, conjuring a portal to escape. "You have not seen the end of this."

[jla_villains]

"Not so fast, master," sneers the Wizard, derisively. With a wave of his hand he counters Wotan's magics, suspending the portal.

[jla_villains]

"Wotan," says the furious Nazi powerhouse. "You will pay for what you did to my mind."

And with that, the villain leaps forward, his fists pummeling the screaming wizard.

[jla_villains]

Desperate, Wotan pushes his will to force the spell and facilitate his escape. But battling the Wizard and Captain Nazi at the same time proves too much for the wizard, and the two seem trapped in the magical matrix.

All around, the stunned priests have begun to flee from the room, scurrying above ground.

The dust settles, leaving Degaton and the Injustice Society on one side of the battle torn dungeon hall, and the All-Star Squadron on the other.

"Well," says the master of time. "It seems our alliance has come to an end. A pity. You have always made formidable opponents."

[midnite_md]

Dr. Mid-Nite's shoulders hang heavy.

"It would not have to end, if you could come to your senses."

[jla_villains]

Degaton chuckles.

"Like I said, doctor. You are worthy foes, but for some, the war goes on."

A hidden device activates, and Degaton and the Injustice Society are bathed in blue light. In a blink, they're gone.

"And that's my cue, too, old friends," says the mysterious, trench-coated man. "My mystic senses returned, I can sense that we're underneath Fawcett City. You should have no problems getting home."

A tip of his fedora to the heroes, and Dr.Occult, too, disappearsinto the shadows.
