COSTA LINDA PRESIDENT SEEKING ASYLUM
by Lois Lane

In an exclusive interview, deposed Costa Lindan President Alejandro Reyes indicated that Amnesty International's leaders were committed to ensuring that the United Nations champion his cause to return democracy to the small Latin American country. He also spoke strongly about the "selfless courage and forthright heroism" of Team Arrow in liberating him from the prison where he been held after General Alberto Fuentes siezed control of Costa Linda.
The interview took place in a secured location where Reyes is awaiting news of his request for asylum in the United States. Though thin and haggard from his imprisonment, the president appeared to be in good spirits and ready to thank all of those who have helped him, most especially the Green Arrow, whose heroism "inspires strength in a weak man, courage in the cowardly, hope in the despairing."
Reyes noted, "Fuentes and the military have circumvented the democratic process and enslaved the people of Costa Linda for years to supply illegal drugs to the United States, Canada and Europe. Of all who knew that a dictator had taken control of my country, only the Green Arrow and his compatriots had the strength of spirit to take action. Now, with God's good will, I will work with the international community to restore peace and prosperity and eliminate the cocaine and marijuana flowing from our poor farmers to the streets of the west."
Reyes was reportedly killed during the military takeover of Costa Linda and speculates that Fuentes kept him alive as a pawn. "He tried to break me, but my spirit is the spirit of my people. We can bend, but we do not break." (cont'd on page 4A)
