This building has security. It's not really a reason that Jesse chose it - she likes the view of Philadelphia and the big jacuzzi - but the security's nice. And the floor is high enough so that realistically only a meta could have gotten up there.
That's not in Jesse's mind as she returns from a light day at the office (it's Sunday, why not?) to prepare for dinner with Wally. Not much is on her mind as she sees the array of damange. Granted, Jesse's place is kept neat as a pin, with not much around to mark it as hers: it's not "homey". But the photographs...those are very, very dear to her.
Her keys fall to the floor, and for five minutes, ten minutes, all she can do is stare, walking through broken glass to pick up a photograph of her receiving her Master's degree, her father at her side. The photo is still in her hands when she calls the police, her voice hollow. They'll be there when they can be.
Jesse then must call the Justice League to let them know someone broke in.
"Hey, babe," comes the response. "You're not at the office on a Sunday, are you? Hey, if if you're trying to pick an outfit, go with the black dress. Me likes the black dress."
Jesse shakes her head, looking away from his rather intent gaze. "I'm not, West. I'm sort of counter to sweet. Sweet is Sue Dibny or... I don't know. Someone else. Not me."

That's out of his mouth before he registers the rest of what she said.
"Oh, drag. Any idea who?"

She looks at the picture and gulps back a large lump. "Can you come over? Now?"

"What's wrong?"
Then he registers the scene. "Oh, god... what happened?!"

Do not cry in front of Wally. Do not cry in front of Wally.

"You... you kept that?"

Blush.

"Dammit, when'd you get so sweet?" he whispers, feeling even worse now about what's happened.
