The Chili Party continues

Hal leads Arisia onto the dancefloor, taking a brief look around the crowded bar.

The room is full of heroes. Friends. Allies.

So many people. Superman showed. Wonder Woman showed. Jay and Joan are here. Booker and Plaz have crashed it.

Oh, yeah, he thinks as he pulls Arisia in close for a dance, it's good to be alive.

Kal waits until Connor's done speaking, then walks over to Dinah. He's on his third ale. Thank heavens for Kryptonian physiology or he might be a bit out of his mind. "Kids say the darndest things, huh?"

"Yeah, they do. And at the worst of all possible times. Or the best. How ya doing, Kal?"

"Better than I've been. This has been the worst month of my life...and this is coming from someone who, well, died."

"I bet. We needed a party. For so many reasons."

Man, with all of these dancers? It made a girl feel really BORED.

Well, the food was damn spankin' and all, but Guy took her DRINK and she was a bit miffed at that. Grr! C'mon, she just wanted ONE. Stupid legal Guy! She was mentally shaking her fist at him.

Ugh. Stupid. Dancers.

She sure did miss Billy.

Courtney grumbled and got up. More muffins, please 'kay thanks.

There you are. I've been looking for you for quite some time now.

The voice sounds irritated.

Courtney turned her head, raising a brow. "Uh, yeah? What's up, Brainy?" Looking for her?

"Whatever it was, it wasn't my fault. It was probably Booster's."

The place wasn't hard to find because of the noise and smell. He recognizes voices he's heard on the horn before, and he stands in the entrance, drinking in the scents, the sounds, the mood and music.

Yeah, these people needed this, he thinks with a grin.

Booker swings Dinah back across the floor to a slightly less crowded area as they dance.

So, uh. I was, uh, wonderin'...

"I don't know her bra size either, and even if I did, I couldn't tell you. Secrets of the sisterhood."

"So what do you really want to know? Her boot size? Her phone number? Whether she's likely to give you the time of day?"

Superman walks up to the bar about to order another Atlantean Ale when he notices a chimpanzee in a Sherlock Holmes hat sitting there.

He decides against another bottle, then heads out to mingle some more.

Farm-raised

She's got an apron on, and someone was nice enough to get her a kerchief to tie back her hair. She sits next to Kal, but talks to no one in particular.

"Well, my chili is pretty much done. I'm so getting out of the way of the testosterone in there. I'm starting to wonder if the chili they're making is even fit for consumption."

She looks out on the street, where one of the trees on the sidewalk is starting to turn orange.

"It's apple harvest back home, I'm betting."

She relaxes a bit in the chair. "But how a farm kid ends up at the superhero Woodstock, I'm still puzzling out."
