Johnny Sorrow stood just outside the gates of Blackgate Penitentiary, waiting for the appointed hour to begin the first stage of his plan. He pulled out an antique pocket-watch from his pant pocket and checked the time. 11:58 p.m

Frankie 'The Fixer' Urbano runs for his life along with a couple of the other surviving members of the Schibetta mob family, trying to get out of Blackgate as fast as they can. He had seen things in his time as the mob's main hitman; he'd fought against the Ventriloquist and his freaks, he'd been exposed to the Scarecrow's fear gas, he'd even seen the Joker up close and personal on one occasion!
But this?
This is too much. A man who can bring death with a look is more freakish and deadly than Urbano wants a part of. As he reaches the large iron doors that lead to the Blackgate courtyard, he sees Pancamo turn back. "Chucky, no!"
Johnny Sorrow had been strolling through the prison, looking for anyone dumb enough to have ignored his warnings. Ahead he sees a group of cons fleeing until one stopped and looked back at him while one of his fellows, obviously smarter than his compatriot, yelled at him to stop. He wasn't positive, but he was certain he recognized the "yelling man" from a newspaper, a mobster of some repute. This may present an opportunity.
"Mr. Urbano, yes? Of the Schibetta family? A rather prominent organization here in Gotham, one with considerable resources. Perhaps you can help me locate someone. I'd be most grateful, perhaps even give you and your friend here a quick means of escape." Sorrow holds up on of the keycards he took from the deceased warden. "This card can give you access to the emergency exits where any "capes" or police will most likely not check until later. In terested?"
To say Frankie is unsure is an understatement. The doors are right there. The way out is right there. But this monster has already shown that one look is enough to end many many lives, and self-preservation wins out.
"Sure... What, or who is is that you want...?" He holds his hand up to stop his friends from trying to run any further. Best to hear this lunatic out without antagonising him.
"Ah good, your parents obviously raised no fool." Sorrow says with light chuckle. "Has your family ever done business with an information broker with the 'nom de guerre' of the Calculator? I would like to speak with him concerning someone who stole something very important from me. I can certainly make it worth your family's while."
Urbano is still for a moment. The Calculator, legendary and infamous figure that he's become, does not like his 'contact details' being thrown around with gay abandon. Still...
"I've heard of him. He's done a bit of business with the Schibetta Mob, before the gang violence in Gotham ended up with most of us getting locked away." Urbano curses the religious zealots who are tearing Gotham apart under his breath. "He don't take kindly to unsolicited calls though.. You'd need an introduction."
"I expected as much. Contact him, tell him Johnny Sorrow wishes to do business with him. Show him this business card, that'll prove it's me." Johnny Sorrow then handed the gangster one of his unique blank business cards. "Here you are. Take this emergency pass card as well, it'll allow you circumvent any security still online as well as access emergency personnel exits. Be seeing you." With that last statement, Sorrow teleported from the gangster's sight.
Urbano is left scratching his head, staring at a blank card. He shrugs before looking around for any guards, and then flees to the closest exit with the rest of his comrades. "Total bugnut insane..."
As he gets to the exterior of the prison, he stops and addresses the other escaped members of the Schibetta gang. "As soon as we get to a safehouse we'll place that call. There's no telling what the power levels of this Sorrow guy are, and I don't wanna cross him." His friends nod in agreement, and they keep running.

When next Johnny Sorrow appeared it was in the deceased warden's office. He casually sat down in a chair and rested his feet on the office desk

No, there's no way the 'capes can ignore it. Batman is the least of the individuals who would miss something like that. He knows too late to intervene but early enough to begin investigating the scene of the crime at Blackgate before outside authorities can arrive.
Under the cowl, Dick grinds his teeth in simple fury at yet another breakout from the Gotham prison. Place is like a day camp for criminals; only the inept seem to stay more than a few years. Justice. Right.
Making sure he steels his features to a suitable grimace, Dick begins his investigation. He wants those responsible caught. Fast.

"My, my, I guess I should have expected the Bat to be the first to arrive." Johnny Sorrow was currently watching the security monitor that showed Batman on the prison grounds. He pressed the redial button on his cellphone.
"Ms. Ramirez, the Batman is here. So far he's the first, but I'm sure he won't be the only one. In the meantime I leave the planning of the operation to you. Call me when you have 'it'."
Johnny at first considered revealing himself, but decided to let things build a little first. As a former actor Sorrow had a genuine love of the dramatic.
"Come on in Batman. I look forward to getting reacquainted."

Of course, a jailbreak at Blackgate is big trouble, and though Beetle doesn't ordinarily patrol Gotham City, this is the kind of thing he /does/ come out for.
Well, his robotic remote-controlled surrogate, anyway. He slides down the zip-line from the Bug to the prison roof, planning to make his way in from there.
