Johnny Sorrow stood just outside the gates of Blackgate Penitentiary, waiting for the appointed hour to begin the first stage of his plan. He pulled out an antique pocket-watch from his pant pocket and checked the time. 11:58 p.m

When next Johnny Sorrow appeared it was in the deceased warden's office. He casually sat down in a chair and rested his feet on the office desk.
"Time to see if things are on schedule."
Sorrow reached for the cellphone his suit pocket, while he was still getting used to modern conveniences, he had little trouble understanding how these new phones worked. He sure as hell wasn't going to even attempt to understand those 'iphone' things. He dialed the number for his contact and waited.
"Mr. Sorrow?" A young, female voice answered on the other line.
"Yes, is everything ready?"
"Yes sir, the breakout's on the news, no way the 'capes' can ignore it. My team is ready to procure the package at your go-ahead."
"'Package' Ms. Ramirez?" Sorrow responded with a chuckle. "You've been out of the army how long and you're still using that lingo."
"Sorry Mr. Sorrow, force of habit," came the slightly chagrined reply.
"Relax, I was just teasing. I'll call you when I see the first sign of 'costumed intervention'. Goodbye." Sorrow said as he ended the phone call. He then turned towards the warden's private security cameras, each covering a different angle from inside and directly outside the prison. He'd know when they were coming.

No, there's no way the 'capes can ignore it. Batman is the least of the individuals who would miss something like that. He knows too late to intervene but early enough to begin investigating the scene of the crime at Blackgate before outside authorities can arrive.
Under the cowl, Dick grinds his teeth in simple fury at yet another breakout from the Gotham prison. Place is like a day camp for criminals; only the inept seem to stay more than a few years. Justice. Right.
Making sure he steels his features to a suitable grimace, Dick begins his investigation. He wants those responsible caught. Fast.

"My, my, I guess I should have expected the Bat to be the first to arrive." Johnny Sorrow was currently watching the security monitor that showed Batman on the prison grounds. He pressed the redial button on his cellphone.
"Ms. Ramirez, the Batman is here. So far he's the first, but I'm sure he won't be the only one. In the meantime I leave the planning of the operation to you. Call me when you have 'it'."
Johnny at first considered revealing himself, but decided to let things build a little first. As a former actor Sorrow had a genuine love of the dramatic.
"Come on in Batman. I look forward to getting reacquainted."

Of course, a jailbreak at Blackgate is big trouble, and though Beetle doesn't ordinarily patrol Gotham City, this is the kind of thing he /does/ come out for.
Well, his robotic remote-controlled surrogate, anyway. He slides down the zip-line from the Bug to the prison roof, planning to make his way in from there.
Re: Final Preperationmasks_we_wearAugust 19 2010, 01:01:00 UTC
Sorrow had currently left the warden's office and had entered the underground level of the facility where he knew one of the "special" inmates was held. Unlike the others, he intended to recruit this man. He stopped at a door with a warning on it.
"Well, considering I'm not even human I believe I can forgo the radiation warning."
Sorrow used the warden's security card and entered the room. He looked at the skeletal man surrounded by flame hooked to a machine designed to keep the man from utilizing his powers.
Re: Final Preperationjla_blackgateAugust 19 2010, 01:13:03 UTC
Alex Sartorius, better known to the world as Dr. Phosphorus looked at the strange man that had entered the room. Sartorius was certain he remembered hearing about someone who looked like this guy. Judging by the key-card in the man's hand, the warden was most likely dead. He remembered his guards leaving in a hurry, yelling about a breakout. This man was more than likely the instigator.
"Sure. Can I assume you're responsible for all the chaos going on right now?"
Re: Final Preperationmasks_we_wearAugust 19 2010, 01:33:28 UTC
"Splendid. Yes that would be me. I am Johnny Sorrow. Most of the prisoners have run with their tails between their legs out of fear of what I promised them I would do if they didn't leave.
"You on the other hand I've come to make a different kind of offer. I want you to work with me, Mr. Sartorius. I'm very familiar with your history and how much has been taken away from you. Believe or not, I can truly relate to that. I have a plan that will bring about an era of suffering upon all those who wronged us. A plan in which the world itself will be remade?"
Sorrow raised the key-card toward the unlocking mechanism of Dr. Phosphorus' prison.
Re: Final Preperationjla_blackgateAugust 19 2010, 01:46:50 UTC
He knew he recognized this guy. From what he heard he had some kinda vendetta against the Justice Society, particularly the one called Sand. More importantly, he could kill a whole bunch of people simply be removing that mask of his. Probably why the prisoners bailed.
Remake the world? Sounded unlikely but he sure as hell sounded serious. As for inflicting suffering on those who wronged him? Now THAT sounded promising.
"Very. If you can do what you say, I'll be happy to work with you."
Re: Final Preperationmasks_we_wearAugust 19 2010, 01:59:31 UTC
"Good, very Good." Johnny Sorrow swiped the card through the machine and watched the cuff's of the machine released and Dr. Phosphorous fell to the ground.
Sorrow offered his hand, and helped the man to his feet.
"Now come along, Mr. Sartorius, to the warden't office. The decor is much nicer there. There's a comfortable couch you can plop down on while I explain what's going on."
With that he took Dr. Phosphorus by the shoulder and teleported them to the warden's office where Sorrow would him in on his plans.
Re: Final PreperationaflyinggraysonAugust 20 2010, 00:55:28 UTC
Batman, in the meantime, has vanished from surveillance. Not findable on the security cameras, not visible anywhere. That means that whatever he found at the scene of the crime lead him to believe he should go hunting elsewhere.
He is on the prowl...but where? In Blackgate, or elsewhere?
Bat-Huntingjla_blackgateAugust 20 2010, 01:39:55 UTC
Dr. Phosphorus stalked the halls, the flames of his body crackled with anticipation. If the Bat was still here, he was determined to make him a cinder on the wall.
He stepped over the bodies of guards and inmates alike. Seeing the body of the warden, he gave the body a swift kick before resuming his search. Alex Sartorius was responsible for the deaths and attempted murders of many, but the state of the bodies unnerved even him. Johnny Sorrow was definitely someone not to be crossed.
Admittingly Sorrow hadn't told him much, but enough to make him intrigued. After seeing the bodies of the dead in the prison, he almost pitied Catwoman for stealing that film. Almost.
Sorrow also had said that this breakout was a diversion, but did not say for what. "Later, when this is done." He had responded cryptically.
No matter, for now he'd settle for killing Batman. He willed his flames to glow brighter and hotter, illuminating the prison corridors, but with no sign of the Bat.
"I will find you, and I will see you burn." Dr. Phosphorus growled with determination as he checked the next corridor.
With the right equipment, Doctor Phosphorus is one of the most easily tracked villains alive. And the Batman always seems to have a Geiger counter on him.
"How did you get out?" growls a voice from above. Or behind. Somewhere in the duct work, presumably, as the voice echoes. "You always need help, Phosphorus. Who was it this time? Joker?"
Dr. Phosphorus is caught by surprise as he flings a fireball towards the ceiling. He looked at the destruction, no body. Damn. His body was glowing like a miniature inferno with rage and frustration.
He calms down, fighting the Bat mad is no way to win.
"How? The man had a key, no grand display or anything." Phosphorus said as he slowly scanned the room. "Joker? Ha, that loony only wishes he could do something like this. Have you seen the bodies, Bat? You think the Clown could do THAT?"
Believing he heard something he flung a fireball at the air duct along the right wall. Dammit, nothing.
"This guy's no Arkham nut, I mean honestly how many guys you know that could just waltz into Blackgate without even bothering to sneak in, kill every guard, and cause a bunch of hardened killers to practically piss themselves in horror?"
Another fireball is thrown, this time into the ceiling. 'Shit! I could of swore I heard him there.'
"He doesn't typically bother with you personally, he normally goes after bigger fish. Something he wants is here in Gotham, that's the only reason he's here."
He turned swiftly with both hands and fired a massive burst of energy behind him, annihilating the entire wall behind him. 'Fuck!'
"Though he did tell me you two met once, a couple years back. You had that Blue Beetle with you at the time and he still nearly killed you both." Then with a sadistic laugh he looks toward the left duct. "By the way, I hope you're not still hung up on Catwoman. She pissed him off REAL bad, I don't envy what will happen to her when he finds her.'
"Don't worry, though," Phosphurus laughs forming a massive ball of energy between his hands. "YOU WON'T LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO WORRY!"
Phosphorus launches the massive fireball at the left duct.
The problem with frenetic assaults like those is that they seem to assume the target is in one place the whole time. Batman moves. A lot. By the time the left duct is Phosphorus's target, the Bat has moved on.
And down.
A Batarang is winging across the room toward the villain's head.
Phosphororus barely sees the Batarang over the flash of the explosion, but has enough experience fighting Batman to know what it is. He attempts turn out of the way, but the Batarang connects with the side of his head. He had managed to turn enough that the blow didn't knock him out, but he was now disoriented and was trying to see straight.
"Damn it! Come out and fight like a man you miserable coward!"
He began to fire barrages of fireballs where he thought the Batarang had come from. Of course since his sense of direction was temporarily skewed, he was now firing in all directions.
"Time to see if things are on schedule."
Sorrow reached for the cellphone his suit pocket, while he was still getting used to modern conveniences, he had little trouble understanding how these new phones worked. DANGER. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PRISONER AHEAD. HIGHEST LEVEL SECURITY ACCESS REQUIRED. RADIATION PROTECTION IS MANDATORY.

"I shouldn't be surprised, this is Batman after all."
He turned to Dr. Phosphorus.
"I doubt he's left yet, but we should check just in case. You check the halls while I investigate the roof."
Dr. Phosphorus nodded and left the warden's office. When he left, Sorrow teleported himself to the roof, not knowing what he would find.
