The Grand Unveiling

Standing at a podium in Liebfeld Plaza, Metropolis, with his son to his left, his... woman.... to his right, and surrounded generally by hired bodyguards (all of decent repute, of course), Max Shreck cuts an imposing figure in the very expensive deep bottle green suit that he had made by Gambi tailors of Keystone.

"The City of Tomorrow!" He punches ( Read more... )

Lois stood toe to toe with Shreck. Cyborg Superman earns a little fear, even if she holds her ground. "Wish I could say the same," she answers with her usual piss-and-vinegar attitude. "You know no one will buy that this was Superman."

Henshaw takes the blow from Steel's hammer and leans back with the swing, retorting by smashing into him repeatedly with his super-powered punches, finishing with a wound up strike to the sternum.

Before he has much time to turn his attention towards Superman, the Cyborg is finding himself being rended by his Kryptonian counterpart. "Naaarrrrgggh!!" As his chest starts to split, he brings both arms down hard on Superman's wrists, and takes to the air at sonic speed.

"You won't stop until you ruin everything for me, Kent. I know this. But I know you value the lives of innocents more than my immediate capture." Henshaw's good eye rolls back and he focuses his technopathy on making the systems on a plane over Metropolis immediately fail. "Better fly, Superman."

Maybe too late, but Lois knows when Henshaw's eyes roll back, he's doing something not immediately visible but dangerous all the same.

She hurls a rock at the back of his skull. "Son of a BITCH."

The rock thrown by Lois connects with Henshaw's lower back as he flies higher, and it scratches his physical armour about as deeply as her insult does his feelings. Still, it breaks his focus on meditation.

With the plane in freefall now, he shoots upwards and away from Metropolis. His work is done. Kent and Lane can wait for another day.

He'd hardened his armor against Henshaw's technopathy, but there's not a lot you can do to armor yourself against punches that hit like bombs - it's fortunate for John that Clark intervened when he did.

As it is, he's a little dazed and his armor is superficially damaged.

"He's disabled a plane's systems - the pilot's radioing for assistance."

Steel looks up towards Superman.

"It'll hit midtown in two minutes."

Lois divides her time between documenting the hero work with the destroyed building and the hero work with the airliner. Because no matter how often she sees lives saved, she gets a thrill watching Earth's good guys screw over Earth's bad guys.

Oh, saving innocents is nice too.
