Merlyn is a very happy assassin right now. He knows Green Arrow's identity. He knows Speedy's identity. An emerald-green stopsign materializes in the line of sight, blocking the shot.

"Professor Leyton sends his regrets, but he'll be unable to attend the funeral you have planned."

Hal floats downward, fixing a stern look on the archer.

"'Merlyn', right?"

Merlyn's not some amateur. And he's been confronted by enough heroes to know his rights. "That's right. And what have you got on me, precisely? I may just be up here practicing my aim. Until I commit a crime, you'd just be beating on a harmless ex-con." He fails to mention that he's an escaped convict.

"An escaped assassin with a number of warrants for his arrest, plus a number of murders have been committed in the area recently fitting his modus operandi?"

Hal smirks.

"I'm an intergalactic policeman. I can recognize probable cause when I see it. Why don't you surprise me and give up before I have to chase you down?"

Merlyn thinks for a split-second. Running is no good. He knows something about the Green Lanterns, even if it's not a lot. He'd just be ensnared in a big green net of some kind. He smirks back at the hero, and flicks the tip of one of his arrows off, making a thick obscuring gas fill the room behind him. Quickly, he jumps into it.
