Good Intentions

He wakes up, sort of, to the sounds he always hears. The screams, the promises that 'he don't mean it, he's just drunk' are quickly drowned out by the sounds from below. The sounds of the ghettoes. Traffic, people, shouts ( Read more... )

"I just got back on base. Give me a few, Chimp." Sand immediately bolts to ops...they're right. Deserted.

A few buttons, a lock-on, and the trio are sent immediately to the medlab. Sand also sends out a code red to the remainder of the team.

A minute or two later, Sand walks into the medlab. "I'm having the rest of the team meet in he...dear god." He takes one look at Travis and visibly flinches.

He looks a little lost...Tara was the team medic. And she's not here. "The transporter had been used a little while ago...by Tara. It took her to Idaho. I have no idea where everyone else is..."

Trevor steps in front of Caleb, already feeling slightly naked going into battle without his mask.

Caleb places his hands on either side of Trevor's head, closes his eyes, and weaves the magic ever so carefully.

A few seconds later and he's done. "Anyone trying to touch your mind is not only going to fail, but might wind up having a seizure." Feedback is a beautiful thing.

Travis doesn't answer Sand, but moves along. Following orders isn't a problem - he has nothing but respect for Sand's skills as a tactician and leader. Likewise, this isn't a suicide run.

According to Tefe, he should already be dead. Maybe years and years overdue. But not til Tara is back with her family.

He keeps the cast up, letting the others prepare as he heads for the teleporter.

Trevor nods and steps onto the teleport pad next to Caleb, leaving the last two spots in the middle for Sand and Travis.

The last time he went round and round with the D'Aubigne family he was mostly out of his mind with rage. This time, all he needs is that memory and the thought of Crystal kidnapping Tara to give him the energy to tear someone's lungs out.

"I'm not gonna tell you not to come," Trevor tells Travis, inspecting the healing that Tefe and the ring have managed thus far. "But if you need help, ask. Tara might be in danger, but she won't want to get rescued just in time for your funeral."

"You can't make things right for anyone from a grave, Dude."

Travis nods. "I'd have to ignore you if you did. The most important thing is to bring Tara back to her family... this family. She needs you guys. That's what's going to happen, whatever it takes. If I need help to make sure that happens, everyone will know. I can't fix what happened... nothing stays fixed. But I can help make this right."

He quiets.
"You heard Tefe, you saw me back in the city. I'm not taking this as a suicide run... I'm going to do everything I can, and we're going to bring Tara back alive and well. Everything else will be what it is."

Corrine's trying to pull something up on the edge of her thoughts when she turns to Caleb. "He won't go alive. I've got three to four minutes if the body's killed to keep it without Gene going mad later. Please--" She's not even sure what she's asking. The facts are as they are.

She isn't happy about this, but she won't argue. Anyway, she's not sure she can, and she doesn't want to be a liability. She moves to Sand next, kissing him before he goes. "Be safe," she says. "That goes for all of you."
