While I keep wondering why Sony notebooks seem to be the only brand not to hold
defective Sony batteries, I'm witnessing an entirely different, still annoying, and even somewhat worrying effect with my notebook.
It crashes.
Since I replaced Harddrive and added RAM my notebook just freezes from time to time. I already took out the new RAM, it still freezes. I can't imagine my harddrive to cause anything like that, what else can be the problem? I tried to switch to 2.6.18 Linux on thursday already, but vmware freaked me out
again. Now I fixed that again, so just to remind myself:
# emerge vmware-modules
# /opt/vmware/player/bin/vmware-configure.pl
Anyways. So I've switched to 2.6.18 again and I hope that will fix the problem, though I seriously doubt that. Have I killed any of my hardware components while taking apart this beast? I'm about to do a memory test on my internal RAM,... but I so hope it's not broke, I'm not yet ready to buy a new notebook.
