The problem with taking a car directly to a dealership is that they always solve car issues with "preventative" measures. This means outright replacing rather than fixing in many cases. I will always take my car to the dealership for things like Oil Changes and Mileage services. But when it comes to major stuff, like Transmission, Alternator and stuff that can be fixed, I'll got to a non-dealer shop. I wouldn't be angry with Saturn. They're just doing their job as they see it. Is it in your best interest? Absolutely not. But, if you want to actually replace something huge, they are the best way to go.
