Yesterday was my usual footcare appointment.
I've usually been having these appointments spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart, but with the current state of the medical and treatment care and times here in Ottawa (and the province of Ontario), these have become regularly 8 weeks apart. And in fact, my feet need looking at every 6 weeks rather than the longer interval. Perhaps a better bet would be 7 weeks apart... Another complication is that the footcare clinician who usually treats me has retired, and so this week's appointment saw me starting to see a new clinician.
To put it bluntly, yesterday's footcare appointment was a disaster. While the new clinician has experience with diabetic patients, she blew this treatment big time. During the 35-minute appointment, she cut me in the feet three times, twice enough to bleed the bottom of my foot. While the footcare nurse came into the room and treated the one deep gash, the bottom of my right foot is hurting quite badly today and I can barely put any weight/pressure down on it. And there's still a little blood seeping through the bandage.
Going to stay off the right foot as much as I can today, and not put too much weight on the left foot (which is also hurting). Maybe I should just stay on the couch, feet up, with a blanket on me to keep me warm on this very chilly day in Ottawa.
