I second that about the neuropathy. My Linda had it, and if I recall correctly she said, Imagine the pins-and-needles sensation of returning circulation… that doesn't go away. That can get agonizingly worse, in fact. But there's no physical damage evident, it's all CNS misfiring.
No, you took a direct hit there of some kind. My personal advice would be to elevate your foot as high as you feasibly can, like, head height or better, to help keep the swelling down. Park your heel high up on your bookcase or something. You might be pleasantly surprised.
