James/Declan was one of those things that sort of came out of nowhere for me; someone made a throwaway remark about it in another story, and then I sat down and thought about how that might have worked, and then I couldn't imagine their relationship any other way.

I will be the first to admit that it has no canon support whatsoever, beyond the fact that James Watson really does not come off as heterosexual. But they charm the hell out of me.

I absolutely consider it implied canon at this point, despite, as you mentioned, there being no actual canon support. But I feel like it could be there, in some missing episode, especially the more John/James backstory we get. More jam in the sandwich!
