I'm going to ponder Day 5, something non-fannish you are passionate about (Um. Does writing count? I'm pretty sure you know all about my feelings about stories as magic. Or I guess I could talk about cooking? Or my wife?) but in the meantime, here is
Day 6: Rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) and that you ended up loving.
Six Things to Know About Dating James Watson, by Declan MacRae by
penknife - Sanctuary, James/Declan
It's more my interest in the pairing that surprised me, as I'm generally inclined to like anything
penknife writes. But when I first saw James/Declan come up in the fandom, I had little interest in Declan at all. I mean, I liked him as head of the London Sanctuary but hadn't bothered to imagine his life when Watson was the London Sanctuary's head. I was quickly converted.
Sing It For the Boys by
fleurdeliser and
tuesdaysgone- Bandom and Comics RPF, Grant Morrison/Gerard Way/Frank Iero
I love poly relationship structures in stories, but I surprised myself with my steadfast OTPing of Frank/Gerard. When I first heard talk about the story, I was convinced I going to have to be sold on the introduction of Grant into that pairing. I think it was the idea I had that Grant was Gerard's interest, and Grant's interest was for Gerard. So, what would happen with Frank? Amazingly, and thanks to the smartness and sharp perception of the authors, that's the actual structure and conflict of the first part of the series. A really wonderful universe that I am so glad I dove into despite my early reservations.
Jo vid (Supernatural) to Ani DiFranco's God's Country by
astartexx This vid hurts, in a beautiful straightforward way. I didn't want to watch it, because I was still (am still) really pissed off with the show for Jo's storyline, but at the same time, I really, really love Jo, and this vid shows off why I'm not alone in that sentiment.
