Aww. I can tell you're resigned by the way you address your message to "Magneto."

Dude, I gave up Excalibur after the first 1.5 arcs of plotlessness. But I've heard nasty rumors about Charles and Callisto. Can you fill me in?

The Charles and Callisto thing - *shudder* - They have quite a few scenes and the Claremont equivalent of a plot thread together, and the it's more of a vibe than any actual flirting, but it still comes pretty much out of nowhere. Callisto kisses Charles as some sort of bizarre diversion to hide weapons in his chair as bad guys storm the house, and Charles spends a lot of time strapped to Callisto as they fight/travel/meander, since he isn't independently mobile. And since Charles doesn't have any scenes with Erik for maybe six issues, he's forced to use all his banter with Callisto.

I don't think they'll take it any further than this, but it's so very strange already, and so frustrating, because I don't really care about Callisto, or whether or not she and Charles have any chemistry.

Well, he might be able to do some of those things if he got more than three and a half lines per issue. *beats Chris Claremont with a stick*

The end of issue 10 might have been dramatic if it had happened three issues ago. I'm also a little concerned at how quickly we moved from Erik reading Tolkien aloud to his daughter to him repairing the house, wiring it with electricity, and creating a forcefield to keep everyone else out. If we're only going to get a few lines from Magneto, they might as well be lines of explanation, and not just him repeating over and over "I'm damned! It's too late!"

I feel like Claremont is trying to hold people's interest with constant cliffhanger endings, but when so little happens between "dramatic cliffhangers," it just gets irritating. If he'd make it clear what the problem actually is, it might hold people's interest better than all this "Magneto is doing mysterious things" business.

Claremont seems to be heading toward some sort of plot where Magneto has incredible new powers, since Charles keeps dropping hints about how the Erik he knew couldn't do these things, but....I'm not sure what it's really going to mean. Did Erik have these powers before and never used them? Or did his actions of saving Wanda - or whatever it was he did - trigger them? The more cliffhangers we get, the more unanswered questions I have.
