Not sure if you were around to know of Father Guido Sarducci. He was a character on Saturday Night Live and "correspondant" on Weekend Update back when Bill Murray and Jane Curtin co-anchored. Father Guido was introduced as the gossip columnist for said newspaper.

You forget I am put a wee pup when compared to some other people in these here parts. I was but a youngin' when Murray and Curtin co-anchored...early 80s, if I remember my E True Hollywood Story correctly.
