I know there's alternatives

But finding them, not so easy so far.  Flylady: anyone know where I can find a free alternative that's a little less insane sexist targeted towards housewives?   I mean, let's be honest here.  Put on your shoes?  Twelve e-mail reminders a day?  Do your laundry every day? (Dude, there's one of me.  I only have two and a half loads a week.)  I ( Read more... )

I don't know. But just reading the wikipedia entry on her (as my prior knowledge was limited to the cover of her book(s?)) was enough to make me want to puke. She wants women to wear make up? Is she FUCKING KIDDING ME????

Sorry. Pet peeve.

I know there are a number of books on getting organized. (I see them every day at the library.) I don't know if any are also online the way she is. But perhaps a book is all you need. I could certainly see if any look non-homicide-inducing.

It's a pet peeve I have, too. No worries.

Really with me, organizing isn't so much the problem. I don't have much clutter, and I'm decimating what's left. It's more the "spraying stuff with cleanser" part. I hate loading up my weekends with it, but there's only so much time in a weekday evening, so I was looking for some ideas to smoosh chores in with minimal trauma/wasted effort.

Well, there are certainly books on cleaning. I don't know if any of them have advice on how to clean as quickly and efficiently as possible. Oh, wait...this might sound odd, but if there are books/sites on running a cleaning business, those might have the right kind of advice.

Unclutterer.com might help, and apartmenttherapy.com too. The latter is more design oriented but I've picked up some nice tips for doing things around the house. Unclutterer is great, though.

...And laundry every day? "One shirt, one pair of jeans (every other day), one set of undies, one night shirt." Wow. That's a waste of resources if I ever heard one. I have enough clothes to go two weeks without doing laundry. I hate using mostly empty machines. ...Okay, I also hate doing laundry.

I can see where daily laundry would make sense in a household with four or more people, where you might actually have a load's worth -- although the idea of gathering and folding clothes every single day gives me palpitations, now that I think about it. But I'm already tossing my towels in with my pants during my weekly battle with the washer. Daily would just be silly.

I'll give those sites a try. Thanks!
