Job search

Friends, I have made a decision. I am now looking for a new job. It is not the best time of year for my field, but I think I will feel better if I am actively pursuing other options. If you know of a possibility within my field, please forward it on. Yes, I am willing to move (OH, so willing to move).

In fact, I am pretty much done with this phase ( Read more... )

I tried a career counselor after I left my last job, and didn't find it at all helpful. All she wanted to do was to give me the same personality tests we've all taken dozens of times and since my purchased package included only a certain number of visits, coincidentally, our last session was spent reviewing my personality. It was pretty much a waste of money. I mean, I already know my personality, I was hoping to find some actual ideas for jobs, you know? I asked her that question on all six visits, and she never could answer me.

For what it's worth, I'm looking again also. I need to find a new industry. I could get a job if I could figure out how to find it...so I'm right there with you. Best of luck!!

Not a clue but since I'm sort of in the same place (need to change job - no idea what to do but I can't move) I just wanted to wish you the best with it and lots of luck.

Friend, do you need to reread your entry from March 10th of this year?

If not, just move to St. Louis and then we will find you a job.

Tea, have a cuppa and think of me.

crysothemis did career counseling and is now in school doing a degree in occupational therapy (and loving it!). You might talk with her.

I send you good vibes. I change careers all the time, so you know I'm in your corner on this.

Thank you, but I never think of it as being anything special. It's just something I do. It's more like, Sarah is capable of finding a permanent career. (grin)

aside from jewishjobs.com I have no practical advice to relay. except to say that the skills required to do what you've done for 20some years are myriad and if you could pull them apart from the job itself and see what they are, that might help direct you.

or, you could call your "former" graduate school and see what they offer in the way of placement for older grads?

b'hatzlacha!
