Art brainstorming post

Having just awoken from my post-GISHWHES coma, it occurred to me that a lot of the art for bangs is quite restricted - pictures, mixes, vids, and the very occasional podfic. I mean, I have not yet seen art for a bang done in Swedish fish glued to plywood, or a scene from a fic depicted with carved potatoes and gummi bears. There's already been talk ( Read more... )

Animated OPs and EDs. :T It's my dream to have one for one of my other fic ideas, but that's just me and my fangirl talking.

Also, my fic has A DRAGON in it now. Just because.

Animated original posters and erectile dysfunctions? While I agree that would be amazing, it seems like more of a blindfold_spn idea :p

THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE DRAGONS IN SPN FIC.

I MEANT ANIMATED OPENINGS AND ENDINGS. FUUUU. Oh wait, that was a joke. Right? RIGHT?!

WELL MINE HAS A DRAGON IN IT, SO THERE. Although it was supposed to be fighting Dean and Jimmy but instead it went 'oh hay you hate the Levs, I hate the Levs, let me take you to them' and then they fly into the sunset the farplane off.

...yeah idek anymore.

OKAY, NOW I KIND OF KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. But you should post me some examples to distract me from my job educate me further.

Throw in that sunset, and I would read that fic SO HARD.

Imma throw this one out there: t-shirts and tote bags. I keep accidentally getting myself roped into designing things (sometimes for a fandom fundraiser, sometimes for clubs, sometimes because I can't keep my mouth shut). Maybe a design around a quote or theme of the fic?

Writer would get a hi-res file of the graphic. I could mail a tote or whatever? (Fun fact, any item of clothing can be posted as a letter if you fold it small enough). Or it could be put up on cafepress/redbubble/whatever site. HMM. THOUGHTS.

I APPROVE OF T-SHIRTS.

Having a shirt based on my own fic would totes be the most awesome thing ever. Including dragons.

Podfics - I've had two of my fics podficced and it's a pretty cool experience, listening to someone read your fic. You can do a straight read, or go crazy with character voices and soundtracks and stuff. I think you can also go outside the box with this quite easily - dramatic readings, reading a fic in another language (I feel that whether you speak that other language or not is irrelevant, so long as the product is amazing to listen to). If it's a fic that could use some laughs, make it funnier by reading it in Enochian. Or you could take your favourite scene and read it like it's beat poetry. Bribe some friends into helping you turn a scene into a radio play. Record the fic as if William Shatner is reading it. Read the fic backwards and then lay the track down over some funky beats, and you could have next summer's dance hit.

PDFs - A lot of the bangs these days are asking for authors to have a .pdf download of their fics, which I think is a cool idea, especially now that I have access to an unsupervised printer at work. I'm ( ... )
