Friend Promo

Sep 01, 2010 09:30

I’m very fortunate. I’ve got a lot of very nifty friends and acquaintances, both the real-world and the online variety, and sometimes I’ve just got to show them off.

To that end, I’m declaring this an open “Promote Your Friends” thread.  Please feel free to post whatever cool projects or accomplishments your own friends have been up to lately.  (If ( Read more... )

Great idea, Jim!

My BFF wickedkiwi, author of Alix & Valerie finished her second novel, The Blind Side of Love and is now working on a third, Rayne: The Third Seer which I'm really eager to read.

My friend Reina had an art showing of some of her old paintings in Harrisburg and sold a bunch of pieces!

Given how few people actually finish even a first novel, that's great!

Does Reina have a web page or sample gallery online? (This is a blog -- we want links!!! ;-)

Here's a sample, I hope it works, it's all on Facebook. She's very local so she doesn't have a website that I know of.

My friend Dave Freer (his blog), who writes science fiction, has moved from South Africa to an island off the coast of Australia. He is also attending WorldCon, finishing his latest book, and making a new life sound fascinating to the rest of us. He's a good guy who deserves a wider audience, alas.

I remember when Dave was prepping for the move. (As I recall, he had run into trouble being able to transport his pets, yes?)

I'm jealous of pretty much anyone and everyone who's at Worldcon right now! :-P

He successfully raised enough money to get the dogs and cats (with one cat rehomed in SA for a specific reason) through quarantine. They're all together again on the island.

Yes, brings tears to my eyes, it does.

I wish I had the money to travel to Worldcon.

Wow, this post is perfect timing for me! I just launched "The Circus of Brass and Bone", an apocalyptic steampunk serial story and podcast that follows a circus traveling through the collapse of civilization.

Very sorry to hear about your mother's diagnosis. How has the fundraiser been going so far?

Thank you.

I've hit my mark to fund the next two episodes--nowhere near the $3,500+ goal yet! But then, I set it high.

At this point, it's about getting the word out. Also, writing the next episode.

May I cross-post this to my journal?

Death Knight Love Story with Joanna Lumley and Brian Blessed zornhau September 1 2010, 14:39:19 UTC
A mate of mine has a high-quality machinima project underway, using motion capture and the WoW engine and setting to tell a love story about undead evil knights:

Strangely, he's asked me to help with the fight choreography.

Interesting! Does he have any idea how long this is going to take? I don't know how much work is involved in this sort of thing, but it looks like a pretty intense project.

This is sort of a more personal project, and is a bit All About Me, but... I just moved cross-country and out of my parents' house for the first time.

I'm also pretty sure that my BFF has an essay in Whedonistas (though she doesn't appear to be listed on the site). So I'll be yoinking that as soon as it comes out.

Congratulations on the move, and good luck!

It may be that they just haven't posted the full ToC for Whedonistas yet....
