Sam had been cranky ever since the weather had changed. It was partially why he had decided to go to the party that had just happened, and why he tried his best to stay in the Compound as much as he could. Veronica pushed back the curtain after a moment, looking from Jim to Sam. "Hey," she said. "And here I thought it would be always summer and never Christmas. What brings you all the way down here?" She offered a small wry smile, brow arched at Jim. The room was in disarray now, hers and hers alone, though not for much longer. A lot of her things were in a bag she'd found in the clothes box. With how busy everything had been, though, she hadn't yet found time to move.

Sam responded before Jim could even open his mouth, and he looked down to see her tugging his hand, obviously wanting to be let go. Knowing what she was going for, he let go of her hand, and she headed right for Veronica, arms nearly wrapping around her leg. It was the highest she could reach.

"Well, I'm not here to hug your leg, unfortunately," he joked, grinning down at Sam. It was the most cheerful he'd really seen her since the weather changed. "Just wanted to come say hello, actually. I heard you're on council again - congratulations."

He knew he had voted for her. The job was a good fit for her, if you asked him.

"I'm disappointed, Halpert," Veronica said, clucking her tongue at him. "And thanks." Reaching down, she brushed her fingers through Sam's hair, grinning. She would have knelt down to meet her, but Sam was making that more than a little difficult, latched on like that. "I guess they like me, they really like me."

"Another step on your quest to control your island, I guess," he teased, still grinning. "Don't think I've forgotten. I know what you're up to."

Sam finally unattached herself, tugging on her shirt instead. "Up!" she said, nearly pouting. She got the pouting thing down real good already.
