As it turns out, House of Many Ways was actually....not that great. I feel very strange about feeling this way. I have never, ever been disappointed by a DWJ book. There have been some that I didn't necessarily want to make babies with, but I still liked them. HoMW was...well. Nothing at all to write home about. So Emily told me to read Hero by Perry Moore and I did. In one sitting? Yes.

Drive by synopsis: Gay kid is child of defamed Superhero, develops (not particularly showy) superpowers, tries out for the JLA resident Superhero team, gets drafted by Speed, tries to keep The Gay AND the heroing in the closet, stuff happens, world is saved.

So I've been reading this fun book called Sexy Origins and Intimate Things: The Rites and Rituals of Straights, Gays, Bis, Drags, Trans, Virgins and Others with is exactly as much fun as it sounds like. :) I read almost the whole thing in one sitting, which is not usually something I do when it comes to nonfiction books ( Read more... )
