Title: Whole
Pairing: Bruce Wayne/Harvey Dent
Disclaimer: The boys belong to DC and to each other, but not to me.
Notes: Happy birthday to
tmelange! Almost all of my fic is tied up in the WFA or Secret Santa right now, so when it comes to birthdays recently I've been a disaster. The Harvey vibe's been going around (I blame

I think Clark has enough self-confiddence he won't take Harvey too seriously as a rival...but he doesn't like him. No, he doesn't like him at all.

I found him quite creepy too, the poor thing. He's pretty messed up even in college, although I do think most of the time he at least manages to keep a more stable veneer going. I rather wanted to cuddle him. Very, very cautiously.

Harvey begging Bruce and wanting Bruce and hating himself for wanting Bruce...so great. And Bruce being so understanding and good about it.
Man I love Harvey. I love this version of him. Harvey is the greatest tragic character in the history of literature. There. I said it.

Harvey's a fascinating character study and I think there are tons of different ways to dig into his basic psychosis and explore it. He's, uh, multi-faceted. Mine's got a really nasty case of internalized father-figure going on.
Bruce...darn it, I tried to make him warier, and he certainly isn't opening his heart up to the guy, but he does ache for his friend. I think he kind of hopes he can help Harvey unwind a little. And maybe he could have, if he hadn't dropped out and left. :( One of those awful questions he's going to have to ask himself...

>>The nunchucks were a perfect weapon for someone like Harvey, Bruce thought as he got out of the man's way--quick, flexible, hard to predict. In addition, the risk of backlash and self-damage while using them was alarmingly high.
Great characterization throughout this, particularly in the interactions--the fight scene, the dialogue. This is just *extremely* well done. Kudos.
And thanks for the birthday wishes! I really appreciate it. :))

True, true, that's a better way of putting it. Part of Harvey is always in the Bad Place, I think. Poor guy.

My version of Harvey has some very specific issues that branch out into all his craziness, the poor dear. I'm glad that it comes across as fairly, um, grounded craziness, you know? I really was uncertain I could write him at all, but this and the upcoming story have really helped me get a feel for my version of him. I'm so relieved it worked for you!
