Bruce glared right at his assailant’s face, at the beautiful blue eyes and endearing curl and strong chin. “Who the hell do you think, you son of a bitch?” he snarled.
I *love* this. Raw and emotional and just... Bruce. This fic, and this sentence in particular was what turned me to S/B for good.
*Bruce was about to sit down in the computer chair when he noticed something else unusual about the cave. He blinked at the waterfall, cascading in icy, glassy torrents in the moonlight, glinting silver ripples around the cave. There was something in the waterfall.
His eyes widened despite himself when he realized it was Kal, naked and white as snow, hovering in the waterfall like a star, his bright blue eyes regarding Bruce steadily. His black hair streamed about him in the pounding water, and his pale lips were slightly curved.
Bruce found that he was holding his breath, staring. He forgot sometimes how eerie and unearthly his lover could be.*
The imagery in this fic is stunning and extreemly graceful. I now have that waterfall burnt into my imagination. ahhhh sweet dreams ;)
*flails* Thank you! That was such a clear image to me, and really crystallized how I see Kal in that series, so I'm unusually fond of that story and delighted to see you mention it. Ee! *dances*
The Wolf and the Star quote is one of my favorites, definitely, and it's one of those lines that I feel almost like I didn't even write, somehow. You know the ones where it's like automatic writing, you're just typing what you're seeing unfold in your mind? Yeah, that's always a powerful experience. It...means a lot to me you mentioned it. *helpless waving at her inability to make how much she means that clear*
And the image of you sitting with a concordance going through Chalcedony is both disturbing and delightful to me! I really enjoyed working in as many of the phrases that sank into my head while growing up in church and left an imprint on me...I was really unsure how many people would get any of them, but it messed up the flow of the story to annotate it or explain, so finally I just let it go as is. So you mentioning it also completely makes my night. Wow, thank you.

That one phrase - Kal, naked and white as snow, hovering in the waterfall like a star, - has stuck with me ever since I read it. Most gorgeous line I can remember ever reading.
*more flailing* Someone else quoted from that story and delighted me no end, because it's one that means a lot to me. It's just a little ficlet with no plot, but a lot of Kal clicked for me in that moment you quote, so it's very dear to my heart. Thank you!
