My Opinion (and only mine) on recent LJ-ness

May 31, 2007 08:41

I don't f-lock stories.  Period.  If LJ reaches a point where I must or face deletion, I'll simply put up a note that I've gone elsewhere.

I refuse to get paranoid about my stories, even if there's a reason to be.  I refuse to get defensive and scared.  Once you start fretting about these things, you're well on the road to self-censorship.  If they ( Read more... )

I must admit I did get a little worried (got more informed about this thanks to a person in my f-list and fandom wank). Besides if this turns into something ugly there are always other blogspots.

From what I am seeing they only been targeting journals and communities related to sexual acts with minors, rape, and words ending with -cest.

So far the slash communities that don't have those kind of things for tags are going as usual.

I know people frame this as "They'll come for us next," but I'm dubious about that. I'm keeping a sharp eye on it, but...I think it will blow over. I hope!

Even though it was kind of a lame-o apology, SixApart *finally* addressed the peons, um, users. I think they realized their bottom line was going to drop a *lot* if they didn't start making amends. As it is they've lost a lot of people who will never trust them again.

Me? I don't never trust nobody in the corporate world! ;) But that's why I back things up and if I migrated somewhere else, something else would happen. As long as my peeps are here, I'm stayin'! :)

Yeah, my paid account runs out on Monday and I was probably not going to renew (though God, losing all those icons!) They've convinced me it's okay for now, but I'll be cautious. They've probably really tanked their permaccount sales now, and once they realized this was going to cost them money they started to back down--not from idealism, but from pragmatism, the only way to get at a large corporation. :)

Speaking of icons I LOVE this one. I saw it posted on worlds_finest like a minute before I put up my fic this morning and quickly changed the Superman one I was gonna use haha.

Ummm which man? The moody one or the one with the funny hair?

I agree with everything you said. Even though, hopefully, it's mostly all over now, I'm still keeping an eye out. And just in case, I made a journal over at Greatest Journals. They have so much room for icons there! You can have up to 2000! I was amazed, lol.

Oh, and BTW, I'm loving the music that you posted! It makes me feel very bouncy for some reason...

2000 icons...*looks deeply tempted*

I might need to check it out just to have a backup. Though getting into another community would probably kill me, LOL.

Yoshida Brothers is some great music for lifting spirits! *feels lifted herself this morning*

Can anybody explain to me what was happening? Last time I checked, yesterday at 10 pm (in Argentine) all was fine, and today at 5.30 pm something is wrong but I don´t know what, so can you explain again guys?

The quick version is that LJ decided to delete any journals with "incest," "rape" or "pedophilia" as an interest. As a result, they deleted a lot of fandom journals and a lot of support groups for rape and incest survivors.

They've reinstated all the fandom and support groups now, it seems. A really unwise move on their part to go delete-happy. :(
