Oscar nominees are up.

And speaking of "up", FINALLY. Up is in the Best Picture category! *runs around flailing* The only other picture to be nominated was Beauty and the Beast. This is WRONG WRONG WRONG. Animation is just as worthy of Best Picture praise as anything else. Gasp. Something that has stunning visuals AND has a well-written screenplay ( Read more... )

I would officially like to say: "WTF BLIND SIDE"!? There's diversifying your Best Picture nominees, and then there's just plain being silly...

Wasn't Beauty and the Beast the reason they made a 'Best Animated' category? I was but a little thing at the time, but I seem to remember a lot of 'OHNOES, CARTOONS ARE RUINING SRS CINEMA!!! D:' at the time.

I think it's great Up got the real nom. I've been saying Wall-E got robbed for a while now.

Something like that.

Same here. And Wall-E went for that whole cinematic look. The special features on how they replicated lighting from the 70s style of movies and gave the movie so much depth... OOOOOO, I loved it.

That's great news about Up, however my animation teacher would constantly argue that animated movies needed their own grand award show.

I think that would be very fun to watch every year :D!

OMG PIXAR! I'm so proud, you did it ;_; at last! I am so glad to see an animated movie FINALLY get nominated, and it really could not have gone to a more deserving film. I havent been this excited for the oscars since the lord of the rings 3 was nominated. man it was such a big thing when they won, fantasy movies practically never win. It's a longshot but I hope this year the unexpected happens and UP wins. If it wins, man you will hear my shrieks of glee all the way from space!

wordy mcword. Animated films always get the shaft (fantasy too) and it's really unfair. the oscars need to widen their view of what is "oscar worthy" material cause IMHO it's pretty narrow. :(

WORD UP. The fact that "Up" is nominated for Best Picture made my month. IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME, HOLLYWOOD. Give animation the recognition it deserves. *draws hearts all around Pixar*
