Oscar nominees are up.
And speaking of "up", FINALLY. Up is in the Best Picture category! *runs around flailing* The only other picture to be nominated was Beauty and the Beast. This is WRONG WRONG WRONG. Animation is just as worthy of Best Picture praise as anything else. Gasp. Something that has stunning visuals AND has a well-written screenplay? You don't say...
I'll be honest and say how pleased I am to not see Avatar nominated for any of the writing categories. The stuff I liked about that film were only the visuals. I like to think that I have a very good picking-out-the-CGI eye (the only one that fooled me that comes to mind is the Black Pearl on the beach in Dead Man's Chest... SWORE that was a model), but there were some parts of that movie that I thought it was so real.
The only movie I haven't seen of the animated films is The Fantastic Mr. Fox, but that was just more of a personal choice. I didn't like the looks of it.
But seriously. *Ten* nominees for Best Picture? Really? This show is going to be like 15 hours long. And some of them, I don't even know why the hell it was nominated.
And congrats to the lovely Carey Mulligan! It's nice to see a Who girl on that list! Perhaps I shall put on "Blink" to celebrate.
