I was encouraged to do this. My list is big and nebulous, and so I release it to the universe.

Whee!

8. All words of encouragement and reassurance that getting out of a city we don't love and moving to a city we do love is a wise decision are most welcome. Success stories of others who have picked up and moved their whole life also appreciated. Just feeling a little wobbly over here.

*wavewavewave*

:D

BTDT, got several t-shirts to prove it. Tampa, Dallas (ok, that one doesn't count, but still), and Tally! It'll be GREAT! :D You'll do grand!

(*bookmarks Amazon wishlist, still waiting for check-goodness*)

i'll practice asl with you! get a webcam, maybe...? ;) i'm going to do signs with Sami when she's old enough, ~9m is when i'm supposed to start.

you are totally doing the right thing moving to a place you love, and don't let anyone tell you different!

we would be willing to sell the civic (stick shift though) to you for a good price if you thought buying a car from cali made sense... on the other hand, the weather has treated it awesomely, so that's one theoretical reason why it could make sense ;) it might need a new clutch, since it's 6 years old, but otherwise it's in excellent running condition.

and, i promise not to forget you!!! tehee.

I think unfortunately getting a car from CA doesn't make sense. Then again, if I don't have a job until March, what else am I going to do but drive cross-country? ;) Thanks for the offer!

BTW: the mental image of Sami signing is totally making my night. The cuteness!

God yes hon. Of course, my couch is currently evil, but we're hoping to replace it.

regarding your amazon list: did you really mean to have YSL Opium on there? I thought that'd be way too heavy a scent for you.

thanks :)

Yeah, Opium's a Thing. My grandmother wore it (which I didn't know until I was in my 20s, I just always loved it) and now it reminds me of her. And while it is heavy, my problem with most perfume is that it's too godawfully *sweet* and floral (gag) and you really just can't accuse Opium of those. It does feel too old for me, but I thought I'd give it a whirl. I can always just leave the bottle open and sniff happily as I walk by. :)

I'd love to re-learn ASL. I took a minicourse, I think soph year, so my skills are fragmented at best- but it'd be fun to try again, if there's a way I could throw my lot in with you.

Will make use of teh Web for keeping in touch with ya. And reminds me, must keep in better touch with Keri too...

I know Julie just took it this semester for nursing-- I bet she'd like to have someone to keep it up with.

I can't wait till you guys get here. :)
